“We were thrilled to get the call about donating meals to hungry people,” said Andrea Jaron, Executive Director of Second Helpings Atlanta.
Second Helpings works to reduce food waste by expertly coordinating logistics between food donors and providers. They make sure nutritious food gets to the people who need it most.
Calendly and Cater2.me recently partnered to bring weekly donations of time and resources to support Second Helpings.
“Calendly provides employees with a few meals per week, catered to our office,” said Office Manager Amy Fincher.
“We simply shifted from feeding employees, to feeding our friends and neighbors. Cater2.me and Second Helpings made everything so simple. It’s amazing how people are coming together to help.”
Second Helpings used the weekly donations to support a community meal program, which has been critical in recent weeks.
The donations also support small businesses by placing large orders for many of these meals at local restaurants.
Cater2.me specializes in connecting local food businesses with nearby organizations. It’s a key part of their industry as a national, corporate catering platform.
Jeremy Cowan, Owner of Jack’s New Yorker Deli in Buckhead, received the first order from the donated meals over the weekend.
“Calendly’s generosity not only helped to feed those in need, but also allowed our small business to keep 10 employees working for another week,” said Cowan.
“We’re so grateful for the awesome work of Second Helpings, and the kindness of Calendly and Cater2.me to give back to our community.”
The first meal was happily received on Monday, March 23rd.
Amy Fincher explained that Calendly employees overwhelmingly supported the donation.
“We have such great people at Calendly. Everyone was so proud that we did this. It’s organic to our company culture—to care, and help others.”
Amy, who’s been with Calendly since 2019, said the company is by far the best place she’s ever worked. She continues to work with executives to find other ways the company can make a local impact.
“There are optimistic people all around us willing to help,” said Amy. “We just have to connect with them—even if that’s virtual right now.”
Cater2.me is launching more client-donated community assistance programs in Austin, New York, San Francisco, and other cities affected by COVID-19.
